Belén Olmedo Menchén is a leading visual and multimedia artist based in Madrid. Born in Albacete, she moved to Madrid at a young age, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2011. Her artistic trajectory is characterized by a diverse and rich body of work that spans multiple disciplines, including painting, digital animation, graphic design and music.
Between 2006 and 2009, Belén participated in the Hall Exhibition at Casa del Pueblo in Madrid and exhibited her work in various cultural centers such as the Centro Cultural de Farnesio in Aranjuez and the Centro Cultural del Ayuntamiento de Tomelloso in Ciudad Real.
Her musical journey with the band “Los Sundayers” from 2006 to 2013 allowed her to merge her artistic talents with music, contributing as a composer, singer and designer. In 2012, she earned a Master’s degree in Teacher Training with a specialization in Visual and Plastic Arts.
In 2014, Belén studied Digital Animation in Edinburgh, where her video art “WATER” was included in an exhibition at Edinburgh College of Art (ECA). That same year, she received a scholarship to work at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport (MECD), focusing on the design, supervision and evaluation of educational materials for distance learning systems.
Belén’s work is characterized by a dynamic and performative approach, full of humor and deep visual messages that provoke reflection on social roles. Her first solo exhibition, “Refugios,” was held at the Ateneo de Madrid in 2016. He also contributed to the creative department of Heart Ibiza, a project by Albert and Ferran Adrià in collaboration with Cirque du Soleil, enriching his experience with a multi-sensory aesthetic.
Her artistic collaborations include designing the cover of the book “Exhibición de Interiores” by Pablo Escudero Abenza in 2019 and participating in various group exhibitions such as “Diálogos Femeninos” in Madrid and Ibiza. In 2022, she completed a Master’s Degree in Motion Graphics and Creativity at the Cice School in collaboration with the creative animation studio Kutuko.
Belén has also art directed and worked with numerous film production companies such as TF7, Lee Films, Garlic, Canada, Rabagast film, The brownie films, La caña Brothers, virtual films, Primo, etc. for important brands such as Mahou, Cocacola, Nike, Adidas, Fifa, Hugo boss, Spotify, Huawei, Movistar, Repsol, Lotería Nacional,Amazon, etc. Working with renowned Spanish and international directors.
His work covers various formats, advertising, film, TV, documentaries and theater, including the design and photography of posters for plays such as “Peribañez y el Comendador de Ocaña.” From the corral of Cervantes in force today.
Her love for culture, art, innovation and learning, led her to enter the world of teaching in 2021, in centers as an associate professor at the University of Alcalá de Henares, teaching visual culture, or at the School of Art and Design Antonio López de Tomelloso, as a professor of Photography.
She currently works with En Iberoamerica Art Gallery, belonging as a group together with art galleries Galería Windsor, Galería Barroso and Latin American Fine Art.
